About Us

Jackie's is lead by a strong management team made up of Jackie Smith, Director & Owner, Laura Harrison, Assistant Director, and Sharon Nardecchia, Administrative Assistant.


Jackie Smith has been involved with children and their causes all of her life. She has taken dance and gymnastics since age two, and knows what the benefits of balancing a good academic education with matching good physical health can do. Prior to opening Jackie's, she taught for the Austin Parks & Recreation Department, the YWCA,  Austin Community College, and other private studios here in Austin. She worked (first as a volunteer, then an employee) at Del Valle Independent School District and has assisted some area schools in writing curriculum guides to meet Texas Education Agency standards. Jackie has always been actively involved in the education process here in Austin.


Jackie has a B.A. in Psychology and in Criminology from St. Edwards University. Her Graduate work was in Educational Psychology (Guidance and Counseling) at Southwest State University. Jackie has always believed in motivating people. While teaching dance, fitness, and gymnastics classes part time before opening Jackie's, she was an Adult Felony Probation Officer with Travis County. However, her first love has always been children.
